Well everyone, Winter is coming and you know what that means! AMAZING FOOD. If you’re like me, you LOVE festive food. I’m a fool for a good pumpkin pie. Winter is the season I find myself eating literally all the time. It’s a problem. However, here are some tips to keep that holiday weight off and still enjoy yourself during this festive season.
Tip #1 – Keep Up Your Workout Routine
I know it’s hard during the holidays and we tend to slack off when it comes to working out (unless you’re me who slacks of during every other season as well). However, keeping up that workout routine is incredibly important if you want to keep that holiday weight off. Don’t pull the whole “I’ll start back up as my New Years resolution” crap. Stick to that routine. I believe in you.
Tip #2 – Chill Out. Eat Slowly.
It takes 20 minutes for our bodies to realize that we’re ‘”full” so take a chill pill when scarfing down your Thanksgiving dinner or leftover Halloween candy and listen to your body!

Tip #3 – Don’t Hang Out with the Food
When at a holiday party, don’t stand next to the food. We both know you have absolutely no self control when it comes to appetizers so leave the food Table and go make some new friends.
Tip #4 – VEGETABLES, VEGETABLES, VEGETABLES
When you’re chillin’ at a holiday party, always reach for the vegetables. I know it can be tough, but we all have to make sacrifices.
Tip #5 – Put Down the Alcohol. Right Now.
Alcohol adds unnecessary carbs to our diets and it also causes us to lose all inhibitions and become borderline primal. We both know that you will eat whatever you please once you’ve had a certain amount of the devil’s water so better just to avoid it.
Tip #6 – Stay on the Same Sleep Schedule
Having a regular sleep schedule helps stabilize our metabolism and prevents us from gaining extra weight. So don’t start sleeping in till noon just because you have time off work and don’t stay up till 3am to get your party on. Stick to that sleep schedule!
Tip #7 – Use Smaller Plates
Smaller plates prevent you from overeating and can help you feel full because you’ve wiped your plate clean!
Tip #8 – Wait for Seconds
After you’ve finished your first plate of delicious, festive food wait 20 minutes before deciding if you want seconds. Remember, it takes 20 minutes for our bodies to register that we’re full, so maybe seconds aren’t even needed, eh?
Tip #9 – Stay Positive
I know how hard it is to not let yourself go and eat everything in sight during the holidays, but just imagine how good you’ll feel come January and you’ve kept that holiday weight off! I believe you can do it, now YOU need to believe that you can do it!
